Med Spa Video Marketing: What to Film and What Needs Consent

Film the things that make a first-time client comfortable booking: your space, your providers and what a visit actually looks like. Treat anything showing a client, especially before-and-after content, as something that needs their written consent first, and keep every claim to what your clinic stands behind. Here's what to film and how to do it right.

What to film

  1. A tour of your space. The front desk, a treatment room, the details. People want to see where they'll be before they book.
  2. Meet your providers. Twenty seconds each: name, credentials, what they love about the work. Clients choose the person as much as the place.
  3. What a first visit looks like. Check-in, the consultation, the room. It answers the question most first-timers are nervous to ask.
  4. Treatment explainers. What a treatment is, who it's for and how long it takes, in plain words, filmed on a model or with a consenting client.
  5. Aftercare tips. Short, useful clips clients save and share, and they keep you top of mind between visits.
  6. Answer the common questions. Does it hurt? How long does it last? When will I see results? Have a provider answer on camera, keeping to what your clinic is confident saying.
  7. Clients in their own words. A short testimonial at the end of a visit, filmed only with the client's written OK.

Consent comes first

Get written consent before you film or post any client, and make it specific: what will be filmed, where it will be used (your social pages, your website, paid ads) and for how long. Keep the signed form on file. If a client changes their mind later, take the content down.

Before-and-after content needs the same written consent, and extra care. Use the same lighting and angle in both shots, don't retouch the result and make sure it represents a typical outcome rather than your single best one.

If your med spa operates as a medical practice, patient photos and video may be protected health information. Check with your medical director or compliance advisor about the authorization form you use.

Keep claims honest

Say what a treatment is and what it's for. Avoid promising specific results, guaranteeing outcomes or calling anything permanent or painless unless your clinic can stand behind it. Ad platforms like Meta and Google have their own rules for health and beauty ads, and honest claims keep your ads running and your reputation intact.

When you don't want to show a client

You don't have to. Film with a model, show the room and the process, or let the provider explain while the camera stays on the equipment and their hands. Much of the content that builds trust never shows a client's face.

BTO Creative House films premium content for med spas across Palm Beach, Broward, Martin and St. Lucie: your space, your providers and your treatments, with consent handled and every video approved by you.
